Wat Phra Kaew (The Grand Palace) is Bangkok's major landmark and a "must see" Wat Phra Kaew (The Grand Palace), Bangkok Thailandfor all visitors going to Thailand.  It was built in 1782 by King Rama I and was the center of power for 150 years. Within the campus is the Chakri Hall, a striking example of Italian architecture surmounted by a traditional Thai-style roof, and the dazzling Wat Phra Kaew (Temple of the Emerald Buddha). The Emerald Buddha is the most revered Buddha image in all of Thailand.

Each building in the campus is a work of art and the serenity that pervades the grounds makes it difficult to leave even after several hours. Only visitor in proper attires are allowed to enter. No shorts are permitted and all shoes must be removed before entering inside the temples.

On occasions, the Grand Palace is the venue for  important religious ceremonies, most of which are presided over by the King or leading members of the Royal family. State functions are also held for formal receptions..

This is the most visited attraction in Bangkok. Every hotel concierge will offer this tour.  Tour bus or van will pick you up and drop you off at the hotel lobby. Dress appropriately.
